Raymond G. Comp, 70, Fort Collins, Colo., a former Winterset resident, died Dec. 6, 1987, at Fort Collins.
Mr. Comp was born Feb. 24, 1917 on a farm north of Winterset and was the son of Walter and Gertrude Webb Comp. He was educated in Winterset schools and married Madene McLees Aug. 28, 1940 in Viola, Kan.
Mr. Comp served in the Army during World War II and later owned a chicken hatchery at Gladbrook, Iowa., before moving to Colorado State University to work for the Avian Science Department. At the time of his death, he was secretary-treasurer for the National Poultry Assn., a post he held for 20 years.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Church's Anchor Club, Emphysema Anonymous and the Boy Scouts, all in Fort Collins, Colo.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Ronald of Denver and Charles of Rochester, Minn.; a daughter, Debra L. Comp of Fort Collins; a sister, Ruby L. Hartsook of Des Moines; and two grandchildren.
