Rival W. Collins, Winterset

Services for Rival W. Collins, 77, Winterset, who died Aug. 9 at his home were held Monday, Aug. 13 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Zanker and the Rev. Wanetta McConnell officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery with military services conducted by the American Legion and the VFW.

A prayer service for Mr. Collins was held Sunday evening at 8 p.m. from the funeral home, with Rev. Byron Ayers and Rev. McConnell officiating.

Born in Davis County, on June 14, 1907, he was the son of William Thomas and Rosella Torrence Collins. He was married to Audrey H. Reit June 30, 1946 at Lancaster, Mo., and was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Collins lived in Winterset since 1953, coming from Bloomfield and operated the Collins Funeral Home for 31 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church, a past post commander of the American Legion, the Winterset Lions Club, the Iowa Funeral Directors Association, and the National Funeral Directors Association.

Survivors include his wife; sons, William Terry and Joel Thomas, both of Winterset; a sister, Lorene Howell of Ottumwa; and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
