Funeral services for Rip Collins, 66, were held Wed. Dec. 12 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Shaull officiating. He died December 8 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A lifetime Winterset resident, Merland Wayne Collins was born December 8, 1924 to Leonard Phillip and Helen Ladine (Pratt) Collins. He married Anna May Johnston in Des Moines on June 28, 1947. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and was a Protestant.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of Winterset; two sons, Stephen Edward Collins of Winterset and Michael Wayne Collins of Des Moines and three grandchildren.

Military graveside services by V.F.W. Post 8142 of Winterset were held at the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials will be made to the American Heart Association.
