GLADYS MAE WIGHT, Winterset

Funeral services for Gladys Mae Wight, 92, were held Tues., May 12 at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Mrs. Wight died May 9, 1992 of a heart ailment at Bethesda Care Center where she was a resident.

A lifelong Madison County resident, she was born in Walnut Township on May 27, 1899 to Elias and Hannah (Johnson) Simpson and married Harry M. Wight on June 8, 1921. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church, Sunshine Garden Club, Columbian Club and United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Surviving are a son, Bernard Wight of Winterset; three daughters, Doris Alexander of Winterset and Marjorie Wohlwend and Norma Greenwood, both of Des Moines; a sister, Frances Handley of Winterset; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
