Graveside Services For Simon Coffman

Military graveside services were held Friday, Feb. 13 at Winterset Cemetery for Simon Coffman, who died Feb. 11 at the age of 85.

Mr. Coffman was born in Wright County, Missouri on Nov. 29, 1895. His parents were William R. Coffman and Sarah Murr.

He was a veteran, serving in the Army during World War I.

In 1922 he married Julia Thomas at Mountain Grove, Missouri. Two sons were born of the union.

Mr. Coffman moved to Madison County from Missouri about 40 years ago. He farmed in the Winterset area until retiring in 1975.

Mr. Coffman and wife Julia had both been living at Villa West Care Center in Winterset.

He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the V.F.W.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Glen of Winterset and Vernon of Slater; a brother, Herman of Centralia, Washington; two sisters, Pearl of Grand Junction, Ia., and Ortie of Chehalis, Washington; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were provided by Collins Funeral Home, Rev. Scott Grotewold officiating. Military honors were provided by V.F.W. Post No. 8142.
