Julia Coffman Died Monday

Julia Florence Coffman died Monday, Aug. 10 at Bethesda Care Center in Winterset. She was 89 years old.

Born Oct. 15, 1891 in Ashland, California, she was the daughter of Jack Thomas and Melvina Winebarger.

On Sept. 17, 1922, she married Simon Coffman in Mountain Grove, Mo. Mr. Coffman passed away earlier this year.

A homemaker, Mrs. Coffman was a resident of Madison County for the last 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Glen of Winterset and Vernon of Slater; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Wednesday morning, Aug. 12, at Winterset Cemetery, Rev. Kenneth Helmer officiating.

Coordinator's note: Per the 1930 and 1940 censuses, the deceased was born in North Carolina rather than California.
