Charles W. Coen, a life-long resident of Madison County, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, at his farm home northeast of Patterson. He was 87 years of age.
Funeral services for Mr. Coen were held Friday, Aug. 11, from the Patterson United Methodist church.
A son of William Lee and Mary Ellen Haynes Coen, he was born Nov. 8, 1901. On Feb. 27, 1926, he was married to Hilda Irma Murry in Des Moines.
A farmer, Mr. Coen was a member of NFO, Madison County Rock club and Patterson Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Rex of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Jim of Des Moines, and Ted of St. Joseph, Mo.; one daughter, Connie Cain of Redfield, Iowa; eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Officiating at the funeral service were Reverends Clarence and Zona Lautt. Burial was in Montpelier cemetery near Patterson.
