Laura Viola Mann, the daughter of Mrs. Lena Jessup, was born on September 25, 1881 in Macksburg, Iowa. In early childhood she became an active member of the Bethesda Baptist church of Macksburg.
She was a faithful member of the Hawthorne Rebekah Lodge No. 350, never changing her membership.
Her marriage to James A. McKinzie took place at her home in Macksburg February 26, 1905. To this union four daughters were born, Coryl Clugston of Denver, Colorado, Edna Breiholt of Brighton, Colorado; Lorene and Maxine McKinzie of Fort Lupton, Colorado.
For several years they were residents of Union and Madison counties here. In 1917 they moved to Montana, where the next eight years were spent. Since 1924 they have resided in Colorado at Brighton and Fort Lupton.
Laura McKinzie departed this life June 17, 1931, after an illness of 10 months. She was 49 years, eight months and twenty-two days old.
Those who mourn her departure are her husband and daughters, her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Jessup, a half brother, Vernon Jessup, other relatives, members of the fraternal order and a host of friends.
Services were conducted by the Rev. H. L. Olmstead in the Macksburg Methodist church at 2:30 o’clock Sunday.
