One sister, Cora Barrickman of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and many other relatives and a host of friends.

She and her husband made their home in Madison county until 1912 when they moved to Clarke county where they have made their home the last 19 years.

At the age of sixteen years she was converted, baptized and became a member of the Elm Grove church. She was a devoted wife and mother and a friend to all who knew her.

She has been a sufferer of heart trouble for several years and was very patient until the last when she slipped silently away.

Funeral services were in charge of the Rev. A. R. Weed and burial was at King cemetery.

Mrs. A. A. Allen passed away very suddenly Tuesday morning at about 1 o’clock. She served better than usual a day or so before her death and it was a shock to Mr. Allen and the eleven children.

The son, Clarence, did not get here until Wednesday about noon. He and his family live near Oskaloosa. Lee and his family live near Indianola. Mrs. George Winkins and family arrived from Nebraska Wednesday. The other daughters arrived Tuesday morning. The entire community sympathize with Mr. Allen and children.

The funeral services for Mrs. Allen were held Thursday. The roads were almost impassable but several neighbors were at the home where short services were rendered and burial took place in the Elm Grove cemetery near Peru. On account of the church being four or five miles farther on short services were rendered at the grave. Mrs. Allen will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She has been a sufferer of heart trouble for a number of years and was very patient until the last, when she slipped silently away to the great beyond.

A wife and mother from us is gone, a voice we loved is stilled, a place is vacant in our home that never can be filled.
