1995Graham "Jack" Wilson Godby, 84, of Earlham, died Nov. 7, 1995 of injuries received in an auto accident in rural Dexter. Funeral services were Nov. 11 at the Earlham Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Ray Martin officiated the services and burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.
He was born in rural Madison County on April 23, 1911 to Clement and Lillian (Wilson) Godby. He married Pauline Evans on March 27, 1937. He later married Maxine Lorimor on July 1, 1976. He was a lifetime resident of Earlham. He was owner of the J & K Implement and Auto Sales. He was a member of the 5x80 Club; the Madison County Farm Bureau, and served 30 years as an official of the Iowa State horse barns.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Pauline; one sister, and one brother.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Maxine; one daughter, Gretchen Isenberg and husband Kenneth of Grinnell; one sister, Marjorie Gist of Des Moines; and two grandsons.

Earlham, IowaGraham W. “Jack” Godby was born the son of Clement and Lillian Wilson Godby on April 23, 1911 on a farm in Madison County, Iowa. Jack graduated from the Earlham High School and Iowa State College.
Jack and Pauline Evans were married on March 27, 1937. To this union was born a daughter, Gretchen. Pauline died on April 16, 1975. Jack and Maxine Jones Lorimor were married on July 1, 1976. Jack has lived in the Earlham and Dexter area all his life and was the owner of the J & K Implement and Auto Sales which sold John Deere equipment and Pontiac cars.
Jack was a regular at the coffee shop in Dexter and enjoyed visiting with friends and being involved in the community. He served for over 30 years as Horse Department official for the Iowa State Fair. Jack enjoyed traveling and had visited numerous places such as Europe, Africa, South America, and most recently was visiting China’s Tiennaman Square during the riots.
Jack leaves the following to celebrate his life: wife Maxine of Earlham, daughter Gretchen Isenberg and husband Kenneth of Grinnell, a sister Marjorie Gist of Des Moines, grandsons Jeffrey Isenberg of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Thomas Isenberg of Grinnell.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pauline, a sister Dorothy L. Godby, and a brother Robert Godby.
Interment in Earlham cemetery.
