Leo Kinkennon, 78, of Earlham, died of cancer March 9, 1995, at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services were held March 13 at Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham. Interment was in the Earlham Cemetery.

Mr. Kinkennon was born to William and Edna McKinley Kinkennon on December 15, 1916, in Faulkton, South Dakota. The family moved to Iowa when he was a child, living in the Panora and Peru areas.

On February 27, 1937, Leo and Sarah Olive Collins were married, living in Winterset for a few years. Mr. Kinkennon worked for the sawmill there and later the railroad. The family lived in DeSoto for one year, after which they moved to Earlham in the early 1940s. Mr. Kinkennon worked as a shovel crane operator at the Martin Marietta Quarry until his retirement in 1979. In recent years Mr. Kinkennon managed Jake's Antique Emporium in Earlham.

Mr. Kinkennon is survived by his sons Jack Kinkennon and Richard Barnett and his companion Diana Love, all of Earlham. He is also survived by his brother Curly Kinkennon of Warsaw, Mo., six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

William “Leo” Kinkennon, 79, of Earlham, died March 9, 1995 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were March 13 at Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham, Pastor David Clark officiated the services with burial at the Earlham Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 15, 1916 in Faulkton, S.D. to William Henry and Edna (McKinley) Kinkennon. He married Sarah Olive Kinkennon on Feb. 27, 1937. He was a retired shovel crane operator for Martin Marietta Quarries. He had been a resident of Earlham for 53 years. He had also lived in Winterset for two years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers; two sisters; one son; and one daughter-in-law.

Surviving relatives include one son, Jack Kinkennon of Earlham; one foster son, Richard Barnett of Earlham; one brother, Curly Kinkennon of Warsaw, Mo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Earlham Rescue Unit.
