Eileen Emma Lager, 80, of Earlham, died Aug. 21, 1995 at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were Aug. 25 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter. The Rev. Linden Wendzel officiated the services and burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.

She was born in Madison County on March 23, 1915 to Carl Richard and Irene Pearl (Fett) Jensen. She married Herman H. Lager on Sept. 19, 1940 in a Lutheran church in Ochyden. She was a lifetime resident of Madison County, living in the Dexter and Earlham area. She was a housewife and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter and the Zion Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Friendly Circle Club of Earlham.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving relatives include her husband; one daughter, Pearl Henkle and husband Walter of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and one grandson.

Eileen Emma Lager was born the daughter of Carl and Irene Fett Jensen on March 23, 1915 in rural Madison County. Eileen lived most of her life in the Dexter and Earlham areas and was a life long member of the Lutheran faith. Eileen married Herman H. Lager on September 19, 1940 in a Lutheran Church in Ochyden, Iowa. To this marriage a daughter was born.

Eileen was employed at Drew’s Chocolates in Dexter, however after Eileen was married she spent all of her time as a homemaker. Eileen’s most loved hobby was quilting. She has handmade over 200 quilts, some going to friends and family as gifts and others being special ordered. Eileen was a member of the Friendly Circle Club of Earlham.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents and leaves the following family to celebrate her life; her husband Herman of Earlham, Iowa; her daughter Pearl Henkle and husband Walter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and a grandson Daniel Henkle of Redfield, Iowa.

Interment was in Earlham cemetery.
