1995Donald D. Langford, 61, of Van Meter, died of cancer at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Sept. 21, 1995. Services were held Sept. 25, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset, with private burial at Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kans.
Mr. Langford was born in Jefferson, spending his early years there. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He lived in Des Moines for several years, in Dallas Center from 1962 to 1976, and on an Earlham area farm from 1976 to 1991, moving to Van Meter then. He also served in the Army National Guard, mostly at Camp Dodge in Johnston for nearly 30 years, before retiring in 1982. He belonged to St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Republican party. At the time of his death, he was serving the first year of his second term as a supervisor on the Dallas County Board of Supervisors.
Mr. Langford is survived by two daughters, Kim Patience of Earlham, and Kelley Grau of Kansas City, Mo. He is also survived by eight siblings, Verl Langford of Mabank, Texas, Dell W. Langford of Conway, Ark., Richard W. Langford of Conway, Ark., Ruth McCollum, Bonnie G. Hostetler, and Jean Burk, all of Jefferson, Betty Peacock of Greenfield, and Kay Buswell, Duluth, Ga. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Marjorie M. Langford; and two brothers, Jack R. and Thomas Lloyd Langford.
