CAROLYN ANN FRANK - Winterset Girl Dies in Crash During Snowstorm

Carolyn Ann Frank, 19-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Frank of Winterset, was killed Sunday in Des Moines when the car in which she was riding was involved in a chain reaction series of collisions.

The fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Fleur drive and Army Post road, during the blinding snow storm which swept the state Sunday.

Miss Frank was riding in a car driven by Russell W. Fisher, 20, of Des Moines. They were returning to Des Moines from Winterset where they had been visiting her parents. Miss Frank and Fisher were engaged to be married next May.

Carolyn Ann Frank was born in Truro on Sept. 4, 1944, daughter of Doyle and Thelma Knott Frank. Her life was spent in that community until the family moved to Winterset in July, 1960. She graduated from Winterset High School with the class of 1962.

She was a member of the First Christian church of Winterset, in which she took an active part in the youth department and as accompanist for the junior choir.

Following her graduation from high school she had worked in Des Moines, and was employed by Meredith Publishing company in that city.

In addition to her parents, she leaves a sister, Mary Beth; a brother, Steven, both at home; a grandmother, Mrs. Ernest Frank of Truro; and a grandfather, Earl Knott of St. Charles.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the First Christian church in Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Robert Owens and the Rev. Dale Lockhart of Kansas City, Mo. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
