Betty J. Addy, 67, of Adel died May 9, 1995, of a heart ailment at Perry Lutheran Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. May 12 at Faith Lutheran Church in Adel. Burial will be in Brethren Cemetery near Dallas Center.
Mrs. Addy was born Feb. 7, 1928, near Dallas Center to Albert and Iva Kirkman. She married Wilbur "Bus" Addy on Jan. 2, 1944, in Omaha, Neb. She lived in Adel from 1951 to 1988. Before that, she lived in Dexter. She taught school in Earlham, belonged to the Earlham Teachers Association and the Iowa State Education Association. She also belonged to Faith Lutheran Church, Faith Lutheran Women's Guild and the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Mrs. Addy is survived by her son John, of East Lansing, Mich., her daughter, Judy Barrett of Dallas Center, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her siblings, Howard G. Kirkman of Bay Pines, Fla.; Doris Jungman of Adel; and Winoma Borchert of Bismarck, N.D.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter, Sandra Kay, and two brothers, Wayne and Jerry.
