Winterset Madisonian - February 21, 1929

William Porter Gibson was born in Kimbalton, Ohio. At the age of 14 years he started his career as an agent and operator for various railroads. He worked for the M. and St. P., Rock Island, North Western Illinois Central and Burlington, the latter company being the one he was agent for at the time of his death.

He came to Truro from Monmouth, Illinois, ten years ago. He was married to Laura Elder, of Laurel, and to this union were born two children. His wife and one child preceded him in death.

In the year of 1905 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Hutchinson, of Omaha, Nebraska. He was a member of O.R.L.; K. of P. lodge and Pythian Temple No. 155. He was a patient sufferer, a kind husband and father and a faithful friend.

On his passing he leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, Mrs. Myrtle Gibson, a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Downs, of Marshalltown; a step-daughter, Mrs. Joe Lang, of Marshalltown; two sisters, Mrs. J. O. Kennedy, of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. George Ellis, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, seven grandchildren and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from the home Sunday at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Burnell, with K. of P. funeral services given by W. H. Turner, and interment was made in the Hartman cemetery.
