JAMES D. PALMER Rites at St. Charles

Funeral services were held last Friday at the St. Charles United Presbyterian church for James D. Palmer, a long-time resident of the Elm Grove community. The services were conducted by N. L. Kale. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.

Mr. Palmer's death had occurred Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1954 at the Veteran's hospital in Des Moines. He was 57 years of age.

Mr. Palmer was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gorham Palmer, and was born at Diagonal. His early life was spent in Iowa, and North Dakota. He was married Sept. 20, 1922, to Opal Helmer of Rock Rapids, Minn. They spent the first year of their married life in Minnesota, but in 1923 returned to Iowa, where they since had made their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Palmer were parents of eight children, the eldest daughter preceding the father in death.

The surviving children are: Maurice Palmer of Indianola, Donald Palmer of Moline, Ill., Harry and Darry Palmer, both of Cedar Rapids, Joyce Brandow of Renton, Wash., and Irene and Norma, both at home.

Mr. Palmer is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Ida Palmer of Winterset; two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Cox of Des Moines and Mrs. Roy Hiskey of St. Joseph, Mo., and three brothers, Clarence Palmer of Peru and Gorham and Lawrence Palmer of Des Moines.
