J. F. WILLCOX Died on Saturday

J. F. Willcox, a Winterset realtor for 42 years, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1954, at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset, after a brief illness. He was 84 years of age.

Joseph Franklin Willcox was born in Madison county on Feb. 14, 1870, a son of Alamaza and Kathryn Willcox. He was married July 3, 1912, to Mrs. May Good of Patterson. They moved to Winterset the same year, and this community since had been his home.

Mr. Willcox had been a leading realtor here over a long period of years. He always took an active interest in the affairs of this community, and was elected to the city council twice. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

By a previous marriage he was the father of one son, St. Clair Willcox, who died in Europe during World War I while serving with the U.S. army.

He is survived by his wife; two step-children, Mrs. Irma Johnson of New Virginia and Irl F. Willcox of Columbia, Mo.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
