1968OTIS CHEW SERVICE HELD SATURDAY
Otis Chew of Winterset, a resident of this community the last 33 years, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Memorial hospital here. He was 82 years of age.
Mr. Chew was born at Cumberland July 16, 1886, a son of Tom M. and Clara Reubeck Stevens Chew. His life was spent in farming. He was a member of the Cumberland Methodist church.
He was married at Atlantic on Nov. 22, 1911, to Mabel Beharnds. His second marriage occurred in January, 1937, at Indianola, to Grace C. Campbell.
He is survived by three children, Earl H. Chew of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Harold Berg of Colorado Springs, Colo., and John M. Chew of Lorimor; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; a brother, Albert Chew of Fontanelle; a sister, Mrs. Ila Campbell of Claremore, Okla.; four step-children, Mrs. Mary Fosher of Winterset, Glenn Travis of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Ruth Henry of Winterset, and Ernest Travis of Maxwell; 13 step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Wilson Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Charles Updike, pastor of the Foursquare church here. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
