Cora May Barker was born in Center Valley, Ind., May 18, 1869, and grew to young womanhood at that place.
In 1900 she came to Macksburg, Iowa and in 1901 was married to C. P. Abbott of that place. To this union was born three sons, one dying in infancy.
In 1918 they moved to Dawson, North Dakota, and made their home at that place until the death of Mr. Abbott, January 20, 1927.
After his death, she with the help of the boys worked the home farm.
She was taken ill in October, 1930, and after a winter of suffering, she passed peacefully away at the Bismark hospital on April 26, 1931, at the age of 61 years, 11 months and eight days.
She leaves two sons, Paul J., and John Abbott, one grandchild, one brother and three sisters. The brother, E. F. Barker, resides at Baltimore, Maryland; her sisters, Mrs. C. W. Lutzman, Wallulla, Wash.; Mrs. Alice Johnson, Clayton, Ind.; Mrs. Martha Pfaff, Plainfield, Ind.; also a number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at Macksburg Wednesday, April 28, at 2 p.m. from the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. A. P. Keast and burial was in Macksburg cemetery.

Mrs. C. P. Abbott passed away on Sunday at the hospital at Bismark, North Dakota. She had been ill for some time. The body was brought to Macksburg for burial Wednesday.
Mrs. Abbott was formerly Miss Cora Barker. She was married to C. P. Abbott who preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Paul and John of Dawson, North Dakota.
