Mrs. Nan Scrivener, a former resident of Madison county, died Tuesday afternoon, July 21, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Laura Chambers at 666 West 32nd street, Des Moines. Mrs. Scrivener, who was born in Crawford township 77 years ago, had been in failing health, but her condition was not thought to be serious. She was able to be up, and around, and was sitting in her chair, when death came.
Mrs. Scrivener, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Ms. James Hardy, pioneer residents of the county. She is a sister of Mrs. J. W. Crossley of Winterset, and made her home, near Patterson, until a few years ago, when she moved to Norwalk. She later went to Des Moines, to reside with her daughter.
The deceased in addition to her sister, leaves three children, Mrs. Chambers, Charles Scrivener of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Minnie Judd of New Virginia. Definite funeral arrangements have not been completed, but it is thought that the services will be conducted at the Patterson Methodist church Friday morning, at 11 o’clock, and burial will be in the Montpelier cemetery.
