Page 1DEATH OF THOMAS EVANS
Thomas Evans died Monday, September 4th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Johnson of Fort Dodge, after a long illness.
Mr. Evans was born September 8, 1859. For the past three months he has made his home with his daughter in Fort Dodge. In addition to this daughter he is survived by five children, Chester Evans of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Walter Myrick of Honolulu, Mrs. Bessie Ellis of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Bert O’Brien of Independence and Orland Evans of Kirkman, and fifteen grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Manning Gatchel died fourteen years ago. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Laura Cridling of Winterset, Mrs. Emily Thornburgh of Jackson, Wyoming, Edward Evans of Winterset, Mrs. Jennie McCloskey of Chicago, Mrs. Mary Osborne of Pomeroy, John Evans of Macksburg, Harry V. Evans of the Philippine Islands, and Mrs. Owen Peacock of California. A sister, Mrs. Lavade Hudspeth preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 6th at Tidrick’s funeral home and burial was made in the Winterset Baptist cemetery.
