Robert E. Casper, Winterset

Services for Robert E. Casper, 72, Winterset, who died Oct 2 at his home were held Monday, Oct. 5, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Charlie Morrow officiating. Burial was at the North McDonald Cemetery.

Born in Winterset on Oct. 23, 1914, he was the son of John and Nellie Gammell Casper. On June 14, 1936, he was married to Gretchen Mueller in Winterset.

A retired farmer, Mr. Casper spent most of his lifetime in Madison County.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Robert and John, both of Winterset; a daughter, Sue Baker of Chapel Hill, N.C.; half-sisters, Perle Mercer of South Charleston , W.Va., and Harriett McCaughan of Tacoma, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.

Robert E. Casper, 72, of Winterset, Iowa, a winter resident of Clearwater, died Friday (Oct. 2, 1987) at his residence in Winterset.

He was a retired farmer. He was a member of First Christian Church, Winterset, and Top of the World Golf Association and the Old Timers Softball Club, both of Clearwater.

Survivors include his wife, Gretchen; two sons, Robert M. and John E., both of Winterset; a daughter, Sue Baker, Chapel Hill, N.C.; two stepsisters, Perle Mercer, South Charleston, W.V a., and Harriett McCaughan, Tacoma, Wash.; and eight grandchildren. Collins Funeral Home, Winterset, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
