ARTHUR CARVER OF ST. CHARLES DIES

Arthur B. Carver of St. Charles died Monday, July 1, at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 81 years of age.

Mr. Carver had lived nearly all his life in Madison county. He was born March 8, 1882, a son of Caleb and Elizabeth Boycourt Carver and attended high school at Murray and at Moline, Kan. He was married Oct. 8, 1902, to Blanche Purvis of Truro who survives him.

During his active life he was in the hardware and furniture business, and served as a funeral director. He was a member of the St. Charles Methodist church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Orval Johnson of St. Charles; a son, Paul Carver of Santa Monica, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 3 from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, conducted by the Rev. Howard Cho, pastor of the St. Charles Methodist church. Burial was made in Ebenezer cemetery near Truro.

Arthur Carver Dies at Age 81

Arthur Benton Carver, former New Virginia businessman and long time resident of Madison county, died Monday at the Winterset Hospital.

Mr. Carver, 81 years old, was born March 8, 1882, near Truro, the son of Caleb and Elizabeth Carver. He married Blanche Purvis. They were the parents of two children.

For many years Mr. Carver ran a hardware and furniture business and was a funeral director in New Virginia. For several years however, he has been a resident of St. Charles in Madison county. He was a member of the Methodist Church in St. Charles.

Mr. Carver is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Orval Johnson of St. Charles, and one son, Paul Carver of Santa Monica, Calif.; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 3, at Kale’s Funeral Home in Truro. Burial was in Ebeneezer Cemetery, southwest of Truro.

New Virginia

New Virginia relatives and friends were sad to learn of the death of Mr. Arthur Carver of St. Charles who passed away at the Winterset Hospital. Mr. Carver had been confined to the hospitals in Des Moines and Winterset for several weeks with a heart ailment. Mr. and Mrs. Carver were former New Virginia residence before moving to St. Charles and he was among New Virginia succesful business men. He leaves his wife Blanche, a son, Paul and family of Calif., a daughter Mrs. Orval Johnson and family of St. Charles, and many other relatives and friends. A large number of New Virginia friends attended the funeral service held at the Kale Funeral home, Wednesday afternoon. And all express sincere sympathy to Mrs. Carver and family in their sorrow.
