Lee A. Carter, 81, of 605 S.W. 62nd St. died of a respiratory ailment Saturday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brooks Funeral Care in Clive, with burial at North McDonald Cemetery near Winterset.
Mr. Carter was born in Lorimor and had lived in Des Moines since 1951. He was a retired truck driver with Rock Island Motor Transit, a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Gnemeth Masonic Lodge, Teamsters union and American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Eva; a daughter, Cora Hallock of Stuart; two sons, Sonny of West Des Moines and Ron of Wellington, Nev.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 to 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
