Alma Maude Carter, Granger

Services for Alma Maude Carter, 86, a former St. Charles resident, who died Dec. 3, at Des Moines General Hospital, were held Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Chet Waterman officiating. Burial was in the St. Charles Cemetery.

Born at Benton, Iowa, she was the daughter of Clyde and Pearl Harris. She attended Benton schools and was married to Guy Warren Carter on Jan. 14, 1920 at Benton. She was a housewife most of her life and was a member of the WSCS, Garden Club and United Methodist Church at St. Charles. Mrs. Carter lived the past two years at the Granger Manor in Granger.

Survivors include sons, Harry W. Carter, wife Mary of Des Moines, and Ivan Carter and wife Earlene of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter Esther Ellis of El Dorado, Kan.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Florence Austin, Viona Johnston, Hazel Steer and Bessie Dalzell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson; two brothers and five sisters.
