BILLY CARTER OF WINTERSET DIES

Death Occurred Monday at Memorial Hospital at Age of 77 Years

William A. (Billy) Carter, long-time resident of Madison county, died Monday, Nov. 5, at Madison county Memorial hospital. He was 77 years of age.

Mr. Carter was born in Warren county Aug. 31, 1885, a son of Ben F. and Sarah Williamson Carter. He had lived in Madison county the last 36 years. He engaged in farming for many years. He also operated a nursing home here for 25 years.

He was a member of the Methodist church at Wick.

Mr. Carter was married Feb. 14, 1923, at Rapid City, S.Dak., to Margaret Edwards, who survives him. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Harrison Martin of Lorimor. Seven brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
