CHARLES ROSS WOODS, Truro

Services for Charles "Dufur" Ross Woods, 77, Truro, who died March 3, 1986, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. Gayle Strickler officiating. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery in Clarke County.

Born May 20, 1908 in Clarke County, he was the son of Harvey and Glen Lowe Woods. Mr. Woods operated the telephone office at Truro for many years. He also was a farmer and was well-known for his truck gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Opal; a son, Duane and wife Veronica of Truro; and two grandchildren.

C. R. Dufur’ Woods, 77, of Truro, died Monday, March 3, 1986 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be held Thursday March 6 at the Kale Funeral Home in Truro, with the Rev. Gayle Strickler of New Virginia officiating the 2:00 p.m. rites. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Clarke County.

C. R. Dufur’ Woods was born May 29, 1908 in Clarke County, Iowa, son of Harvey Woods and Glen Lowe Woods, he graduated from school in 1927 and married Opal Robinson on November 2, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska. One child was born to this union. He worked in the area as a taxi cab driver, farming, truck gardening and operated the Truro Telephone Office for several years. He was a member of the Trappers Association and National Rifle Association.

Surviving relatives include his wife Opal Woods of Truro, son Duane Woods and wife Veronica of Truro and two grandchildren-Robert Woods of Des Moines and Kelli Woods of Truro.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
