Woodrow (Woody) A. Caldwell, 84, of Wildomar, Calif., died of cancer July 10, 2000.

A memorial celebration was held Saturday, July 22, at Rancho Community Church in Temecula, Calif.

Woody was born July 22, 1915, in Winterset to Frank and Elizabeth Caldwell. He had resided in Fallbrook, Calif., for 20 years, moving to Wildomar in April of this year. Woody had been an ordained minister for 60 years, having preached in Iowa, California and Nevada. He had been associated with Gold Prospectors of America for 30 years and was the "Prospector's Preacher" on the Outdoor Channel for almost eight years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Jerrie; a son, Thomas Mark Caldwell of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Julie Ruth Kelley of Cupertino, Calif.; and three granddaughters.

Memorial services for the Rev. Woodrow Armstrong Caldwell, 84, will be at 1 p.m. July 22 at Rancho Community Church in Temecula. He died of cancer Monday at his Wildomar home.

Inurnment will be private. Valley Funeral Home in Murrieta is handling arrangements.

Rev. Caldwell, who was born in Winterset, Iowa, recently moved to Wildomar after living in Fallbrook for 20 years. He began his service in the ministry as a Baptist preacher in California, Iowa and Nevada. More recently he was the host of "The Prospector's Preacher," a television program on the Outdoor Channel, owned by the Gold Prospectors of America. He was also pastor emeritus at Temecula Valley Christian Center.

He served in the U.S. Army in 1945. He was a member of the Gold Prospectors of America in Temecula.

Mr. Caldwell is survived by his wife, Jerrie; a son, Thomas of Santa Clara; a daughter, Julie Kelley of Cupertino; and three granddaughters.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Temecula Valley Christian Center, Vision in Motion, 43300 Business Park Drive, Temecula, or to Hospice of the Valleys in Sun City.
