G. W. Parsons was born in New York March 21, 1821, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andrew Rowe, May 25, 1899, aged seventy-eight years, four months and two days. He removed with his parents to Ohio, and later to this state, where he has since made his home. He was once actively engaged in business, but some years ago he lost his eyesight and since has lived a retired life.

Having united with the Christian church at the age of twenty-one years, he remained a member until his death, when he expressed himself as being fully ready to depart, as his faith was fully grounded in the word of God. At his death his church membership was in Winterset.

The funeral services were conducted Friday, May 26, by Rev. D. Martin at the Rowe home, after which his remains were laid to rest in the cemetery south of town.
