MRS. ROSE BURD DIED THURSDAY

Long-Time Resident of This Community Was 84 Years of Age

Mrs. Rose M. Burd, a native of Madison county and a resident here nearly all her life, died here Thursday, May 20, at the age of 84 years.

Mrs. Burd was the former Rose M. Armbrest, a daughter of Cap and Ettie Armbrest. She was born on a farm in Scott township Jan. 25, 1870. With the exception of a few months spent on a claim in South Dakota and in the Iowa colony in Texas, she spent her life in or near Winterset.

She was active in the Church of Christ and Rebekah lodge for years.

She was married Feb. 10, 1891, to Lester H. Burd. They were parents of four children. Her husband and one son, Iver Cap who died in infancy, preceded her in death.

Surviving are three children, Cecil R. Burd of Los Angeles, Robert R. Burd of Winterset and Mrs. Mary Louise Lee, also of Winterset; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Sol Armbrest of Powersite, Mo.; and a sister, Mrs. Nell Roberts of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
