Page 1, Column 4LESTER BURD DIED SATURDAY MORNING
Lest Burd, well known painter and paper hanger, for over forty years a resident of Winterset, died at his home Saturday morning. The funeral was held at the Methodist church, Rev McCallon of the Church of Christ, officiating.
He was the son of Simeon and Mary Burd and was born on their farm near Peru, in 1868. He grew to manhood on the farm and was married to Rose Armbrest in February, 1891. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the I.O.O.F. He is survived by Mrs. Burd and three children, Cecil, of Des Moines; Robert and Mary of Winterset.
Lester Burd passed his entire life in Madison county, where he had the confidence and esteem of a large acquaintance. He was an unassuming man of quiet force who accomplished the things he undertook to do. Winterset, where he was best known, lost a splendid citizen by his death.

Lester Homer Burd, son of Simeon and Mary Burd, was born Nov. 27, 1865 near Peru on what is known as the Burd farm, where he grew to manhood. He departed this life, Sept. 12, 1925. He was married Feb. 10, 1891 to Miss Rose M. Armbrest of Winterset. Their entire married life with the exception of 20 months, was spent in Winterset. To this union was born four children: Cecil Rex of Des Moines, Robert Roscoe of Winterset, Iver Casper, deceased August (illegible date), and Mary L. of Winterset.
Mr. Burd united with the Church of Christ some 15 years ago and has been an active member ever since in the Bible school and church. He was also a loyal member of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah orders. He was a kind husband and father, loyal to his faith and a patient sufferer. Besides his devoted wife and children, he leaves his aged mother, two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services conducted by his pastor, Rev. F. Clare McCallon, were held at the Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock and burial made in the Winterset cemetery.
