Death Occurred Wednesday Morning at Home in Winterset
Cap E. Burd of Winterset, member of a well-known family in this community, died this Wednesday morning, July 1 at his home in Winterset. He was 72 years of age.
Mr. Burd was born in Madison county Aug. 1, 1891, a son of Henry and Margaret Armbrest Burd. As a young man he served in World War I as a member of the 212th Engineers, U.S. Army.
In 1919 he moved to New Ulm, Minn., where he was married to Clara McDonald. Forty-nine years of his life had been spent in Madison county. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Clara Burd of Winterset; two nephews, Lewis and Elvis Stout, who made their home with Mr. and Mrs. Burd for many years; a brother, Clair Burd, and a sister, Mrs. Bess Miles, both of Winterset.
Funeral services will be held this Friday at 2 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Earl Travis. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
