John L. Bryan Rites Wednesday

John Lewis Bryan of rural Winterset died Saturday March 22 at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 64. He was a lifelong resident of the Winterset area.

Born on March 21, 1916, in Madison County, he was the son of Joseph Lynch and Clara Mabel Barnes Bryan. He was united in marriage to Wanda Louise Wagley on Sept. 19, 1963, in Eureka Springs, Ark. Mr. Bryan was a farmer and heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1977.

Surviving are his wife Wanda; four children, Joseph Bryan of Truro, Jeanne Kordick of Corning, Mildred Sheldon of Truro, Carole Weldon and Karla Kramer, both of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Bryan of Des Moines; and a sister, Catherine Doyle of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. David Livingston officiating. Burial was at Ebenezer Cemeter south of Peru.
