MRS. GEORGE BRUETT DIED HERE SUNDAY

Funeral Services Held Here Tuesday From Church of Christ

Mrs. George Bruett, a resident of Madison county for most of her life, died at her home in Winterset Sunday. She was 73 years of age.

Mrs. Bruett was the former Louisa Altona White, daughter of Abraham and Nancy White, and was born Dec. 23, 1871, in this county. She was married Jan. 28, 1903 to George F. Bruett. They were the parents of two children, Mrs. Gladys Mapes and Walter Bruett, both of Winterset.

In addition to her husband and two children, she leaves a sister, Mrs. Emily Shaffer of Laurel, Mont., and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Winterset Church of Christ in charge of the Rev. C. P. Shepard of Earlham, assisted by the Rev. Tom Foglesong of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Louisa Altona Bruett, daughter of Abraham and Nancy White, was born December 23, 1871 in Madison county, Iowa, and passed away August 5, 1945 at her home in Winterset at the age of 73 years, seven months and 13 days.

She was born in Madison county where she has made her home most of her life. Her parents were pioneers in the county and the span of her life has seen this part of the country develope from a thinly settled wilderness, to a thriving modern community.

She united with the church as a girl and learned to love the Bible School, and worship services of the church. She remained true, and active in the church through out her life. Although failing health and defective hearing prevented her from full participation in the Lord's work for the last few years her heart, and spirit remained true to her faith.

She was united in marriage, on January 28, 1903, to George F. Bruett. To this union two children were born, Gladys and Walter, both of Winterset.

Mrs. Bruett spent her life in Madison county with the exception of three years spent in Oklahoma. Most of her married life was lived in Early Chapel community. the last year and half were spent in her home in Winterset.

She loved her family, her home and friends and neighbors. Her special interest was her flowers. These were a source of beauty and strength to her, and to all who came to her home.

She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband, her daughter Mrs. Gladys Mapes, and son Walter, both of Winterset. One sister, Emily Shaffer, of Laurel, Montana, ten grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many good friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were conducted from the Church of Christ, Winterset, at 2 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon with Rev. C. P. Sephard officiating, and Rev. Tom Foglesong assisting. Singers were: Rev. Marguerite Shepard, Mrs. Parthena Nierman, Mrs. Beth Blackburn and Mrs. Mae Clague accompanied by Mrs. Clara Mapes. Interment was in the Winterset cemetery.
