Death at Patterson Sunday Officially Termed Suicide
Harold W. Bruett, 52, of Patterson, was found shot to death in a barn near his home in Patterson Sunday afternoon.
Sheriff Rex Rouse was called to the scene. Dr. Paul Eggleston of Winterset, county medical examiner, also investigated the death and reported it as a suicide.
Mr. Bruett was a life-long resident of Madison county. He was born here Oct. 6, 1914, a son of Charles N. and DeVona Cline Bruett.
He was employed as a mechanic by the Martensdale Implement company. In Patterson, he was a member of the town council.
He was married at Winterset on January 1, 1938, to Ruby M. Newbury, who survives him. He also leaves four children, Mrs. Hank Van Kooten of Winterset, and Darrell, Vicki and Judy, all at home; and seven brothers and sisters, Mrs. Gene Kirby, Mrs. Alvin Gentry, Mrs. Eldon Grulke, Otis and Charles Bruett, Mrs. Gyle DeVault and Clifford Bruett, all of Winterset.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Patterson Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. James Louk. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
