MARTHA BROWNLIE DIED ON SUNDAY

Douglas Township Resident Was 86 Years of Age At Death

Mrs. John Brownlie of near Winterset, member of a prominent Madison county family, died Sunday, February 28 at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 86 years of age.

Mrs. Brownlie had been a resident of this community for the last 55 years of her life. She was the former Ida Mary Dougan, daughter of William C. and Martha Irwin Dougan, and was born at Fairfax on July 10, 1878. She was married there to John Brownlie on Dec. 21, 1910.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian church in which she was active in many of the church organizations. She was also a member of the W.C.T.U.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Robert C. Brownlie of Goodyear, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. Martha Hauser of Winterset, Mrs. Mary Hindman of LaPorte City and Mrs. Margaret Miller of Phoenix, Ariz.

She also leaves 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. John E. Fink. Burial was to be made at the Fairfax cemetery.
