Raye Browne, St. Charles

Funeral services for Raye Browne, 90, of St. Charles were held May 21 at the St. Charles Parish Church. She died May 19 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Burial was in the St. Charles Cemetery.

Raye Brown was born in Andover, Mo., July 7, 1902 to Walter and Laura (Breniezer) Frisby. She graduated in 1919 from Kellerton, Ia. She married Wayne J. Myers in 1919 and moved to the St. Charles area in 1942 following the death of her husband the preceding year. On November 21, 1942 she married Donald Browne.

A member of the St. Charles Parish Church, Raye Browne was active in a number of organizations including the Rolling Wheels Camping Club; the St. Charles Parish Church Women's Circle; and the N.A.R.F.A. Past Matron of the Model Chapter 174 Order of the Eastern Star, Browne was active with that group for over 50 years.

Raye was preceded in death by her two husbands, a sister and three brothers.

She is survived by five daughters, Jean Reynolds of Prospect Heights, Ill.; Sally Wharff of Norwalk; Lou Greenman of St. Charles; Dona Hatfield of Brunswick, Ga.; Carole Armstrong of Indianola; one sister, Rosemary Dufty of Albuquerque, N.M.; ten grandchildren adn 20 great-grandchildren.

The Kale Funeral Home in St. Charles was in charge of arrangements.
