Chester H. Thrailkill
July 22, 1907 - January 1, 1993

Chester Heanan was born July 22, 1907 in Earlham, Iowa to Caroline Amanda (Holderbaum) and John Chester Heanan Thrailkill. He attended the rural school in Penn Township and graduated from the Dexter High School in 1926. Known by his classmates as "Chet", he was a great sportsman and truly enjoyed all sports.

On April 18, 1931 he was united in marriage to Arlene E. Willison. To this union one son and three daughters were born.

Chester farmed in Madison County most all of his life and enjoyed the country life to its fullest. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was always ready with a helping and loving hand as long as his health permitted.

Chester and Arlene celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 18, 1991. He was a member of the Dexter Methodist Church and served for years on its official board. He and his wife served as custodians for many years. He was a member of the Wiscotta Masonic Lodge and was Past Master of the Masons, a Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, past member of the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Lodge and served on the school board in Penn township.

In March of 1982 Chester suffered a severe stroke. The following fall he and Arlene moved to Adel. Then in October of 1991 he fell, breaking his hip, and never fully recovered. He fought a hard battle with lots of health problems for nearly 11 years. After his stroke he and Arlene enjoyed the winters in Arizona.

Chester passed away January 1, 1993 in Apache Junction, Arizona, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 10 days.

His parents, six brothers and six sisters preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife Arlene; a son Chester, Jr., of Pleasanton, California; three daughters, Shirley Crosman of Adel, Barbara Halpin of Bettendorf and Treva Davis of Springville; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Maurice of Winterset and Ray of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Tillie Heifner of Tulsa, Oklahoma, other relatives and friends.

Burial was in the Dexter cemetery.
