Funeral services for Donald Browne, 87, were held Mon., Nov. 5 at St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Tom Webster officiating. Browne died October 31 in Prairie Du Chien, Wis.
He was born October 15, 1903 to Walter and Virginia (Bell) Browne and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1920. He married Raye Frisby November 21, 1943. He was a rural St. Charles mail carrier for 42 years and retired in 1963. He was a charter member of St. Charles Lions Club, a member of Model Lodge #315 A.F. and A.M. for more than 50 years, Model Chapter #174 Order of the Eastern Star N.A.R.F.E., Rolling Wheels Camping Club and St. Charles Parish Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Helen (Thompson) Browne and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife Raye of St. Charles; daughters, Dona Hatfield of Brunswick, Ga. and Carole Deane Armstrong of Indianola; step-daughters, Jean Reynolds of Prospect Heights, Ill., Lou Greenman of St. Charles adn Sally Wharff of Norwalk; a brother Edward Browne of Indianola; a sister, Mary Belle Frey of Knoxville; ten grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.
