Tom Brown, a resident of Peru since 1941, died Thursday, Dec. 2, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 75 years of age.
Mr. Brown was a native of New York state, where he was born Dec. 25, 1889, a son of Frank and Dora Brown. When he was 8 years old, he moved with his parents to Orlando, Okla. His early life was spent there, where he worked on a ranch and farmed for himself. He came to Clarke county in 1938, and spent the remainder of his life there and in Madison county.
He was the father of 12 children, two of whom preceded him in death.
The surviving children are Fred, Wilbur, Ernest, Rex, Roy, Glenn, Dorothea, Dean, Doris and Clara. He also leaves two stepsons, Paul and Hugh.
Funeral services were held Dec. 6 from the Peru Methodist a brother, Chester Trester of De John Porath of Indianola.
Burial was made in Ebenezer cemetery.

Tom Brown, 75 year old Peru resident, died at Winterset December 2. He was 75 years old.
He was born in New York state on December 25, 1889 and grew to manhood in Oklahoma. He came to Iowa in 1938 after the death of his first wife. He was married to Nellie Klein Smith on August 14, 1941.
Services were held at the Peru Methodist church, Monday, Dec 6 with Kale Funeral Home in charge. Rev. John Porath officiated and burial was in Ebenezer cemetery.

Tom Brown, son of Frank and Dona Brown, was born December 25, 1889 in New York State and passed away at the Madison County Memorial Hospital on December 2, 1965 at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 8 days.
At the age of 8 years, he together with his parents and a sister traveled by covered wagon from New York to Orlando, Okla., where they homesteaded a farm. He resided with his first wife, Lavine in Oklahoma where he worked on a cattle ranch and farmed independently. To this union, 12 children were born, two of them having preceded him in death.
He migrated to Iowa in 1938 and lived in Clarke and Madison counties for the remainder of his life. On August 17, 1941 he was united in marriage to Nellie Klein Smith at Maryville, Mo., and they resided at Peru, where he was a trucker for himself and for Sargent Bros. Quarry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, his wife Nellie, 2 sons, Wayne and Frankie, and a step-son, Emary. He leaves to mourn his passing 10 children, Fred, Wilbur, Ernest, twins Rex and Roy, Glenn, Dorothea, Dean, Doris, Clara; two step-sons, Paul and Hugh and a host of nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Mr. Brown was a friend to everyone and particularly willing and ready to help anyone in the time of need. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Services were held at the Peru Methodist church Monday.
