John H. Brown, Winterset

Services for John H. Brown, 76, of Winterset, who died Oct 19 at his residence, were held Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Union Chapel Cemetery.

Born in Madison County on June 4, 1908, he was the son of Samuel and Alice Barber Brown. He lived most of his life in the county and was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1973 and had worked in construction, as a quarry worker and carpenter.

Mr. Brown was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans; and a past member of the St. Charles VFW.

Survivors include a brother, Arthur of Patterson; sisters, Geneva Bertholf of Winterset, Elma Fogler of Patterson and Florence Fairholm of Peru.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
