Ethel Brown, Winterset

Services for Ethel A. Brown, 75, Winterset, who died June 21 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, were held Mon. June 25, at the First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Bauer officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Madison County on January 11, 1915, she was the daughter of Francis and Alma Oglesbee Murphy. She was married to Ernest Brown on November 11, 1938 at Osceola.

A homemaker and former helper for the Earlham Care Program, she had lived in Madison County all her life except for 10 years where she lived in Greene County. She was a member of the Hoosier Prairie Club and a past member of the Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Brown retired in 1976.

Survivors include sons, Loyde Brown of St. Charles and Larry Brown of Baltimore, Md.; daughters, LaDonna Speer and Elaine Newton, both of Winterset, Arlene Beerends of Prairie City and Mary Onstot of Madrid; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
