AGNES BROWN, PATTERSON, DIES

Native of Ireland, Lived in Madison County for 82 Years

Mrs. Agnes Jane Brown, a native of Ireland who had lived in Madison county for 82 years, died Wednesday, March 27, at Memorial Hospital in Winterset. She was 91 years of age.

Mrs. Brown was the former Agnes Jane Russell, daughter of William and Nancy McClain Russell. She was born at Newtonards, Ireland, on Nov. 13, 1876.

She was married at Winterset Aug. 21, 1893, to Walter W. Brown, who preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1958. One son, John, died at the age of three months.

Their active life was spent farming in Madison county. For the last 25 years she had lived in Patterson.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frank Libby of St. Charles and Mrs. Arthur Speer of Prole; five grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Patterson Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. James N. Louk. Burial was made in Mt. Pelier cemetery at Patterson.
