1978Funeral For Wilbur Brooker
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 1:30 p.m. from the Carson Funeral Home in Ogden, Iowa, for Wilbur Brooker, 66, who died Sunday, Oct. 8, 1978 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.
He was born July 24, 1912 near Winterset, the son of Nelson and Blanche Brooker and attended country schools and lived in the Winterset area until 1962 when he moved to Boone county.
Mr. Brooker was married to Vi Knox in 1964 and they made their home in Boone until 1973 when they moved to a farm south of Ogden. He was employed by the Hallett Construction Company as a mechanic and also by the Archway Bakery in Boone.
Survivors include his wife, Vi, of Ogden; two daughters, Phyllis Decker of Peru and Myrna Horner of Nebraska City, Neb.; six grandchildren, one great grandchild, three brothers, Judson of Winterset, Ralph of Des Moines and Herbert of Indianola; three sisters, Rose Van Buren of Van Meter, Darlene Fundinger of Colorado and Madeline Bennett of Des Moines; five stepchildren, Richard Hunter of Colorado Springs, Colo., Carolyn Kibsgaard of Ames, Carl Hunter of Ogden, William Hunter of Texas and Henritta Meyersack of Ohio; and eight step-grandchildren.
Mr. Brooker was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters and one grandchild.
Burial was made at the Bass Point Cemetery in Boone.
