Bertine Brooker, 71, Dies

Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 31, for Bertine Brooker, who died Dec. 29 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Indianola.

Mrs. Brooker, who had been a life-time resident of Madison County, was born April 14, 1909, the daughter of Frank and Ida Mae Walker McCleary.

She was married to Norwood Brooker on Feb. 1, 1928. Norwood died in 1978.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Brooker was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ward McCleary, and sister Pearl Severns.She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Oberender of Indianola; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn McCoy of Glenwood, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

Rev. Byron Ayers is officiating at the funeral of Mrs. Brooker. Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery.
