Mable Pearle Brokaw, 92, died of a respiratory ailment Nov. 12, 1998, at Winterset Care Center North.
Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 16, at Winterset Cemetery with Pastor John Shaull officiating.
Mable Brokaw was born Oct. 24, 1906 in Taylor County to Walter and Helena E. (Thompson) Barton. She married Earl N. Brokaw on Nov. 28, 1928 in Creston. She was a resident of Winterset for 52 years, having previously lived in Corning until 1940 and then Des Moines and St. Charles. Mable, a homemaker, had been a cook at the Northside and Club cafes in Winterset. She also was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one great-grandson.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth Brokaw (wife Marjorie) of Winterset; a daughter, Irene Crawford (husband Gene) of Gilbert, Ariz.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church or Winterset Care Center North Activity Fund.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
