September 3, 1920 - June 27, 1984Dorothy I. Stanley was born in Van Meter, Iowa on September 3, 1920, and lived in Dallas County most of her life.
She graduated from Earlham High School.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Stanley March 25, 1939 and to this union one daughter was born.
Dorothy was a member of the Friends Church in Earlham and had taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed working in her yard and flowers and was a devoted helpmate with the farm work.
Survivors include her daughter, Helen College of Earlham; four grandchildren, Joseph, David, Marcia College and Michelle Hastie, all of Earlham; three great grandchildren, Monica Hastie, Jacque and Brandon College; two brothers, Ralph Wheeldon of DeSoto and Richard Wheeldon of Lorimor; five sisters, Marie Jay, Tustin, California, Jean Boots, Atlantic, Iowa, Betty Boyd, Earlham, Iowa and Ellen Thompson of Albany, Missouri.
Services were held Friday, June 29, 1984 at the Earlham Friends Church with the Rev. Eldon Cole officiating and music provided by Irene Cole, organist-soloist. Pallbearers were Charles Wheeldon, Richard Wheeldon, Rocky Boyd, Rodney Boyd, Jody Thompson, Mike Boyd. Honorary pallbearers were James Travis, David Jay and Steve Boots. Interment was in Earlham Cemetery.
