Dick Street
July 11, 1919 – September 30, 1992

Richard D. (Dick) Street was born July 11, 1919 at Tama, Iowa.

Dick served in the Army Corp of Engineers during World War II.

In 1946, he married Martha Husak, and they made their first home in Gladbrook, Iowa. While living in Gladbrook, three sons were born – Larry, Dale and Jim. Dick owned a Kaiser-Frazer and A Packard dealership, constructed his own automobiles, and was very involved in community activities.

In 1955, Martha and Dick moved to rural Winterset. There he owned a small business called The Sculyville Store, and later he formed a manufacturing company. During this time, Dick’s antique gun collection was internationally known. The family also owned a home in Adel. While in Winterset, a daughter, Mary Jo, was born.

In 1966, the family moved to Ankeny while Dick was employed as a tool and dye manager for Firestone. In 1970, the family returned to the homestead in Winterset where Martha currently resides.

Those that preceded him in death were his parents, John and Violet Street, and his brother, Bill.

Surviving Richard are the members of his immediate family, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Interment of Ashes was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Tama County, Iowa.

RICHARD (DICK) STREET, Winterset

A funeral mass was held for Richard Duane (Dick) Street, 73, on Sat., Oct. 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Street died on September 30, 1992, at Hillside Convalescent Center in Des Moines. Internment was at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Tama County.

Mr. Street was born in Tama on July 11, 1919, to John Henry and Violet (Woods) Street. He married Martha Husak on June 4, 1946, in Oskaloosa.

He had lived here 35 years and was a machinist and mechanic, owning a small business called The Scullyville Store, and later formed a manufacturing company. His antique gun collection was internationally known.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Amateur Trap Shoot Association, and the National Rifle Association. He served in the Army Corp. of Engineers during WW II.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother.

Surviving relatives include his wife; three sons, Larry Street of Winterset, Dale Street of Des Moines, and Jim Street of Winterset; one daughter, Mary Jo Street of Des Moines; six grandchildren and one great-grandaughter.
