Funeral services for Mary Jane Brittain, 94, were held at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset on October 24, with Pastor Jason Brittain officiating. She died October 20, 1992, at Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines. Burial was at North McDonald Cemetery.

Mrs. Brittain was born in Booneville on December 5, 1897, to John and Emma (Davis) Brayman. She married Clarence Brittain on February 29, 1916 in Madison County. A homemaker, she was a lifelong resident of the county.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son; two brothers and one sister; and two grandsons.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Joseph Brittain of DeSoto, and Gene Brittain of Waukee; four daughters, Ruth Aldrich of Van Meter, Evelyn Hubbard of Winterset, Mary Jane Brittain and Carol Ann Brittain, both of Des Moines; a sister Bessie Clopton of Winterset; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the family.
